Daniel Ontiveros

Nació en Buenos Aires en 1963. Estudió en la Escuela de Artes Visuales Martín Malharro de Mar del Plata y presentó su primera muestra individual en el Museo Castagnino de la misma ciudad, en 1984. Excombatiente de la Guerra de Malvinas. Desde 1990 vive y trabaja en Buenos Aires.

En sus instalaciones, pinturas y objetos la historia del arte se entrelaza con el contexto y la historia latinoamericana.

Obtuvo becas como la John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation en 2007, las de la Fundación Antorchas en 2004 y el Taller de Barracas en 1995 , la del Fondo Nacional de las Artes en 2001 y la Beca Islas Malvinas en 2017-2018. Realizó la residencia Art Omi Internacional Center, New York, EE.UU. en 1997. Fue declarado Personalidad Destacada de la Cultura por la Legislatura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires en 2008 y Ciudadano Ilustre de la Provincia de Buenos Aires en 2015.

Participó entre otras en la V y VI Bienal de La Habana, Cuba en 1994 y 1997; en Buenos Aires In-Out Centre d´Art Contemporain, Montbeliard, Francia, en 2000; The Disappeared North Dakota Museum of Art, EE.UU, en 2005; en la Bienal de San Pablo, Brasil y Realidad y Utopía- 200 años de arte argentino Akademie der Künste, Berlín, Alemania en 2010.

He was born in Buenos Aires in 1963. He studied at the Martín Malharro School of Visual Arts in Mar del Plata and presented his first individual exhibition at the Castagnino Museum in the same city, in 1984. Former combatant of the Malvinas War. Since 1990 he lives and works in Buenos Aires.

In his installations, paintings and objects, the history of art is intertwined with the context and Latin American history.

He obtained scholarships such as the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in 2007, those from the Antorchas Foundation in 2004 and the Taller de Barracas in 1995, the National Fund for the Arts in 2001 and the Malvinas Islands Scholarship in 2017-2018. He completed the Art Omi International Center residency, New York, USA in 1997. He was declared an Outstanding Personality of Culture by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires in 2008 and Illustrious Citizen of the Province of Buenos Aires in 2015.

He participated, among others, in the V and VI Biennial of Havana, Cuba in 1994 and 1997; in Buenos Aires In-Out Center d'Art Contemporain, Montbeliard, France, in 2000; The Disappeared North Dakota Museum of Art, USA, in 2005; at the Sao Paulo Biennial, Brazil and Realidad y Utopía – 200 años de arte argentino Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Germany in 2010.
